Divya is passionate about music from her childhood days. She started learning Carnatic music from Smt Vijaya Natarajan (She used to sing for Bharatnatyam dancer Padma Subramaniam). She was a lead singer for her school and college band. While studying at Madras University, she brushed shoulders with the likes of Anuradha Sriram and Pushpavanam Kuppusamy. She has won prizes in several inter-school and as well as inter-college competitions. Along with her daughter, she continues to practice and sing Carnatic music and as well as light music.
