Tired of writing infinite lines of Java code day by day, Nishant decided to take control of his life and do something with it – he started a music band called Band!ts. Band!ts is short for “Bay Area Nerd Desis !n Tune with Saragama”, has been performing at various charity events, fund raisers, banquets, conferences in the bay area for 2 years now. Nishant started the band as means of unwinding his stressful corporate life with something more enjoyable and soothing. Little did he know that he had a volcano full of music passion ready to erupt in the most unlikely times. Nishant simply “digs” music and wants to make it his career (his wife allowing). He is a software engineer by chance and a musician by choice. Nishant composes his own music and has also composed music for a bay area desi movie which was premiered in the San Jose film festival in March 2005. Nishant started as a vocalist in the band, then moved on to Drums. What really attracted Nishant to drums was not the complexity and importance of the instrument in music, but the “style” drummers showed off when they are on the set. He even sported long shoulder length hair (don’t all drummers do?) until recently when his wife decided its time for him to either loose his head or the hair. Though his wife had expected his head, he choose the hair !! Nishant loves mostly rock and pop music. He likes to sing modern peppy numbers that just gets his wild side out when he is on stage. He has also emceed some of the biggest shows in the bay area such as Sankara Eye Foundation shows, RD Burman show by Soortal, TiECON shows to name a few. He someday hopes to cut his own music album, provided he is not laid off.
